California (Las Urbinas 44/56, Providencia, Santiago) – this is a sports bar, where patrons can have a beer and watch football games (both futbol and American football), as well as other sports (like NBA basketball, NHL hockey, and Major League Baseball/MLB). On occasion, local DJs are booked to throw pop music parties. Food-wise, this bar serves American-style hamburgers and Mexican foods like tacos, burritos and (a rarity in Santiago) and quesadillas.
The bar’s owners graduated from universities in California (USA), thus the inspiration for the venue’s name. That, plus they view Chile as the “California of South America”. With a mainly 20-something college crowd, this bar no doubt attracts expat Americans that happen to be passing through Santiago (especially those longing for a hamburger).
