Casa Colorada Museo de Santiago

Casa Colorada Museo de Santiago
Casa Colorada Museo de Santiago (Calle Merced 860, Santiago) – this colonial structure was built by prominent Portuguese resident Don Joseph de la Vega in 1769. This blood-red colored building shows a typical home owned by the Santiago elite over 200 years ago. Given the frequent earthquakes that Chile has endured over the centuries, few such colonial buildings remain in the 21st century.
Nowadays, the Casa Colorada houses the Museo de Santiago – which acquaints visitors with the city’s history from the pre-Columbian period to more recent times. Admission: 505 pesos (adults), $255 pesos (students). Free entrance on Sundays and holidays. Hours: 10 am – 5 pm Tuesdays – Saturdays, 11 am – 2 pm Sundays.
