Gran Torre Santiago

Gran Torre Santiago
Gran Torre Santiago (Avenida Andrés Bello 2425, Providencia, Santiago) – this modern billion-dollar architectural wonder is the tallest skyscraper not only in Chile, but throughout Latin America (300 meters tall) and is part of the Costanera Center complex (which is to be completed in 2014-2015). Two hotels and additional office towers are being built here as well. A shopping center within Costanera is already opened.
Gran Torre Santiago was designed by the Argentine architect Cesar Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Chilean architects Alemparte Barreda & Asociados, and by the Canadian company Watt International. Structural engineering was performed by the Chilean company René Lagos y Asociados Ing. Civiles Ltda. Salfa Corp. was responsible for its construction. Many view this development as a by-product of Chile’s economic prosperity. Its mere presence within Santiago’s skyline provides a contrast to the Andes Mountains – which has long acted as a backdrop of the city.
