Museo Colonial de San Francisco (La Alameda 834, La Alameda, Santiago) – this museum (which has a collection of colonial and religious art) is located in the San Francisco convent that was built in 1628 (one of the oldest structures in Santiago – remarkable, considering that it survived three massive earthquakes!). Many of the colonial-era furniture, keys, paintings, and other items in the museum were made in Peru (when it was still the seat of the Spanish government in Latin America.
Admission: 1,000 pesos (US$2) (adult); 500 pesos (seniors / students). Hours: 9:30 am – 1:30 pm; 3:00 pm – 6:00 PM (Monday – Friday); 10 am – 2:00 pm (weekend).
